General Business Advisor
As a general business advisor, I offer advice in all areas of business management, particularly in the areas of financial analysis and control as well
as in operational process design, development, implementation and control. I emphasize the importance of paying attention to ALL areas of the business,
particularly those in which the current owner/managers feels they are less skilled or knowledgeable, or in which they simply don’t like. (Most managers
gravitate towards those areas of the business in which they excel naturally and/or are most familiar or comfortable with. This leaves them lacking in other
areas, unless they recognize and hire competent individuals to perform those duties.)
My approach is to make the owner/manager more comfortable in the
areas they traditionally are not adept at, which is in reading financial statements, understanding what they indicate, understanding financial
ratios and using all of these tools to make good business decisions going forward.
Individual Profile - Elizabeth Illgen
I have both a BA and MBA in Business, with a concentration in International Business. In addition, I have worked for both fortune 100 companies
and privately held “mom” and “pop” shops, and have owned my own business for the past five years. Further, I am currently a member of the
Mercer Chamber of Commerce serving on the membership, Women in Business and Small Business Committees. I am an Accredited Associate of the
Institute for Independent Business (a non-profit organization dedicated to research and resources for small business owners) and a Counselor
and Seminar Leader for the Mercer/Middlesex SBDC/SBA. Finally, I have worked in several different industries including Telecom, Manufacturing,
Consulting, Information Technology, Restuarant /Hospitatilty, Non-Profit and Retail. In short, I have a wide variety of experience in every
functional area of business, as well as an “outside the box” approach to solving business problems that makes me uniquely qualified to provide
solid business advice to any business owner.
