Ms. Melick's personal and career accomplishments include:
- In June 2006, elected new Chairman of the Board Of Trustees for Centenary College
- The longest serving member of the Board of Trustees for Centenary College, as well as the first alumna/us chairman of the Board and the first
woman to hold this position.
- A retired vice president of KeySpan Corporation, the nation's fourth largest gas company
- A former director of consulting services for PricewaterhouseCoopers
- She has worked as a columnist for the Associated Press Newark, NJ bureau
- Authored three books on the U. S. presidency
- Served in the administration of New Jersey Governor Thomas H. Kean in the Department of Commerce & Economic Development
- Has been inducted into the New Jersey Advertising Hall of Fame
- Currently a member of the Centenary College President's Circle
- Serves on the Board of The United Methodist Higher Education Foundation and Green Mountain College
In addition to her Centenary College degree, she earned a bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University and a master's degree from Syracuse University.
In recognition of her service and accomplishment, Centenary College presented her with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 2001.
She lives in New York City with her husband, Fredric T. Shapiro, is the mother of three sons, and has four grandchildren.
